Even though berry season is ending soon, don’t fret! With just under 40% of Richmond consisting of farmland, it is the perfect city to get some fresh produce. Late summer is the perfect time to start looking for fresh vegetables like tomatoes, peppers, beets and zucchini. Here are four fresh options on where to get the best produce in Richmond this August.

Steveston Farmers & Artisan Market (adjacent to the Steveston Community Centre, 4111 Moncton Street) has vendors who are proud to, “Make It, Bake It, Grow It or Catch It” right here in BC. While picking up your fruits and vegetables, make sure to check out the craftsmanship from some of BC’s best artisans. This market is every other Sunday from 10:30am-3:30pm. The next market is on August 19th.

W&A Farms (17771 Westminister Highway) is a family-run farm that has been operating for more than 70 years! Even though they are famous for their strawberries, they also have a bountiful number of other crops. Vegetables such as beans, carrots, kale, super sweet corn and many more are available starting this month. Make sure to bring some change because this stand is cash only!

Kwantlen St. Farmers Market (7700 Minoru Gate) is the second farmers market in Richmond. Here you can find produce, artisanal creations, treats and more! Make sure to look out for the Sustainable Agriculture Program stand where all the produce is grown by Kwantlen students. This market runs every Tuesday from 12pm-4pm until October 2nd.

GJ Farm (11300 4 Road) is a local farm that focuses on achieving the full flavour for all their produce. They harvest their crops daily, so you know that you are getting the freshest produce possible. While you’re there pick up some of their free range eggs or a jar of strawberry honey!

If brussel sprouts, pumpkins, or cranberries are more your thing, then don’t worry! Fall is just around the corner and there is a cornucopia of fruits and vegetables to come.
