What are your top design tips for fall and what trends are you seeing in interior design?
It’s normal to see bolder designs in private homes or retail environments, but with condos, striking statements are not as common since a broader clientele inhabits these spaces. However, I see a shift happening. Branding buildings as a whole is becoming a huge trend. This opens the door for designers to push the envelope. We’ll be seeing bolder designs in this market. Be ready for black-on-black kitchens & bathrooms, a mix of different metals, use of innovative & emerging materials, thinner countertop profiles. It’s time for the West Coast to catch up with our European counterparts.

What about the amenity spaces at RPP II & III make it extraordinary?
The incredible team behind it, really pushed it for the best. The sheer scale of the spaces and the number of amenities will be sure to wow homeowners. A lot of time was spent contemplating the functionality and use of each space, alongside all of the effort in the detailing of the design.

Where did you get the inspiration for the design of the amenity spaces?
Inspiration comes from many different places. It layers, intertwines and emerges throughout the design process. From the beginning, we were inspired by the water colour image from the branding materials. The movement in the image resembles the flow of the river, a snapshot into the colourful lifestyle of the neighbourhood, and at the end of a long day, a beautiful sunset over the water. Boundaries blur into one another and the whole image becomes the motion. This motion becomes what propels you. That’s what will be experienced throughout the amenity spaces. The whole building has this dynamic and cohesive structure, spaces which flow from one to the other and even visually connects the different levels to one other. The energy will be felt from the space as a whole, not just a localized room. This connectivity has been achieved with thoughtful space planning, transparency using glass walls and a thoughtful choice of the finishes and design details throughout.

What is your favourite feature in the amenity space?
My fave is the 3D feature wall in the lobby. Gigantic geometrical pieces layer upon each other, climbing up the verticality of the space and wrapping onto a horizontal plane where they meet the ceiling. It resembles to me a huge rock cave in a very sophisticated and abstract way.

Was is your favourite ‘hidden gem’ in the area?
I don’t know how hidden it is, but the walk along the water is so peaceful and inviting. Anywhere that you can sneak off to where you can feel an interplay between light reflecting off of the water and listen to the trees as the leaves flutter in the wind, is a little slice of heaven.
