This summer, we had the pleasure of welcoming two exceptional interns, Nick and Eli, to our Vancouver office. Over the past four months, they immersed themselves in hands-on projects, expanded their industry knowledge, and made meaningful contributions to our work. Here’s what they had to say about their time at Intracorp.
Why did you want to intern at Intracorp?
Being born and raised in Vancouver, I’ve developed a strong interest in the real estate market. This passion was further ignited when my family decided to build a new house, giving me the opportunity to experience the entire development process firsthand. After that experience, I knew I wanted to explore the real estate field more deeply.
I was drawn to Intracorp after hearing glowing reviews from peers and mentors who had worked with or at the company. Additionally, Intracorp’s reputation as a high-quality organization was already familiar to me, and the opportunity to intern there was simply too great to pass up.
How was your overall experience?
My internship at Intracorp was nothing short of fantastic. From day one, I was warmly welcomed and immediately felt like part of the team. Everyone I met was incredibly kind, invested in helping me learn, and offered detailed and constructive feedback that boosted my confidence. This support encouraged me to explore new opportunities and step outside the boundaries of my role. I would be remiss not to mention the incredible culture I experienced during my time there. Being surrounded by hardworking, intelligent, and dedicated peers created a rich environment for collaboration and meaningful friendships.
What is your biggest takeaway?
My biggest takeaway from my time as a Sales & Marketing Intern was learning the importance of monitoring and evaluating competitors’ marketing strategies, lease-up progress, and unit specifications. By analyzing these factors—and others—I gained a strong understanding of what makes a project stand out or fall short. This context was incredibly valuable and allowed me to make informed recommendations for our own strategies. It also clearly demonstrated how closely intertwined sales and marketing are in the success of a real estate project.
Why did you want to intern at Intracorp?
Intracorp offered a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of development and finance – as a finance student interested in real estate, this internship caught my attention right away. Knowing that Intracorp collaborates with reputable partners, I was especially drawn to the opportunity of working with the Capital Markets team because they are largely responsible for the facilitation of interesting equity investment and debt financing agreements. Getting the chance to learn about client relations and deal structuring all while engaging in interesting work on the Capital Markets team all contributed to my interest in this summer internship.
How was your overall experience?
My experience at Intracorp was highly enjoyable as I had the privilege of learning alongside talented coworkers who were always willing to offer their guidance. I was consistently challenged through technical assignments and large projects that demanded precision, critical thinking, and a high standard of execution, making the work both engaging and impactful. By the end of this internship, I had made strong connections with people in the office and developed a detailed understanding of the development process, making the experience personally and professionally fulfilling.
What is your biggest takeaway?
My biggest takeaways were through cultivating an understanding of what drives the financial and operational feasibility of real estate projects. “The Intracorp Way” allowed me to gain a comprehensive view of our development lifecycle and the internal processes that support execution. Additionally, through hands-on involvement on various deliverables at a time, I learned how to model project returns across differing macroeconomic scenarios, sharpening my approach to evaluating risk and financial performance on interesting projects across Vancouver. Overall, this internship enabled me to strengthen my understanding of real estate finance while developing organizational and time management skills through managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
