A quick Q and A with Vancouver’s Paul Mackichan and Seattle’s Leslie Robbins.

We sat down with two of our longest serving team members, Paul Mackichan – who’s been with us since the turn of the millennium, and Leslie Robbins – who joined us even earlier than that. We talked about what they have learned from the simple act of pausing to look backward, and inward.

A fast chat with Paul Mackichan, Site Superintendent

Q: You started with Intracorp in the year 2000. When you look back, what has stayed the same all these years?

A: When I reflect, I can say that the company culture, values and positive attitude by all departments involved have remained consistent.

Q: What are you most proud of as it pertains to your two decades with Intracorp?

A: I am most proud of having had the opportunity to grow, develop, and mature with the company. I started as a labourer and was given the chance to evolve into new roles as time went on. I’m very grateful for that. I’m also proud of the buildings themselves, and how much thought goes into them from concept to occupancy. It’s a great feeling to see them to the end and to get positive feedback from new homeowners.

Q: What is something you have learned about yourself as a person based on your time with Intracorp?

A: I’ve learned a lot over the years. I’ve learned that, with a good work ethic and a great attitude, nothing will get in the way of being successful. You have to earn respect in this industry as it is not just given out.

Q: What is the thing you love most about your role with Intracorp, and working with Intracorp overall?

A: I love the interactions with the trades, vendors, and my co-workers. We all have the same goal – and that is to deliver an extraordinary project. We all love to bring smiles to our new homeowners, knowing that their new adventures are just starting with their new home.

Q: What about the future makes you excited / What are you looking forward to?

A: I’m looking forward to everything, new concepts, new buildings, new technology to help with the building process and most of all looking forward to meeting new people which includes…trades people, consultants and city officials….

A fast chat with Leslie Robbins, Controller

Q: When did you begin your journey with Intracorp?

A: I started working as a Project Accountant in the San Diego office in October 1999. At the time, the San Diego office had just opened and hadn’t broken ground on their first project.

Q: What has stayed the same all these years?

A: For the most part, there is a general sense of cooperation and willingness to help others within the company. Cooperation is appreciated and reciprocated. It has also always been a fun environment to work in.

Q: What are you most proud of as it pertains to your two decades with Intracorp?

A: What I’m most impressed about with this company is the ability to be nimble and flexible with changing market conditions. While many real estate developers went out of business during the last recession, Intracorp figured out creative ways to maintain cash flow. Our group is always looking with an eye to future market conditions.

Q: What is something you have learned about yourself as a person from your time with Intracorp?

A: Even though I’ve worked in the construction and development industry for about 23 years, there is always more to learn.

Q: What is the thing you love most about your role with Intracorp, and working with Intracorp overall?

A: I love my accounting team. I consider myself very fortunate to be working with such a capable, bright, and friendly group of people.

Q: What about the future makes you excited / What are you looking forward to?

A: I’m excited to see my team take on new challenges and grow their careers in the company.
