Fall is an incredible time for events in Austin, with iconic festivals such as the Austin City Limits Music Festival and Austin Film Festival, the start of the University of Texas Football Season, and other quintessential local events featuring everything from hot sauce to bats. Here are five things to check out this fall:

1. Bat Fest (September 7)

Bat Fest is a uniquely Austin event that celebrates the 1.5 million Mexican Free-Tail bats that emerge each night in spring and summer from beneath the Congress Avenue Bridge. Bat Fest is family-friendly and takes place directly on the bridge with live music, food, and of course, bats.

Presented by The Pecan Street Association, The Pecan Street Festival is celebrating its 47th annual Austin appearance this year. Proceeds from the festival go towards the preservation of downtown Austin’s Sixth Street Historic District. With almost 50 musical acts, 30 food vendors and kid friendly activities, The Pecan Street Festival is an Austin staple.
