We are in the business of caring for others.

At Intracorp, one of the tried-and-true values we hold closest to our hearts is that of caring for others. As a guiding philosophy, it means more to us than simply being a nice thing to say. Rather, our commitment lies at the core of everything we do. As an organization, it unifies our experience.

Recently, Kyle Wright, one of Vancouver’s Development Manager’s, brought this value to life when he participated in Sleep Out, the event which took him to the streets in support of Covenant House. By spending a night sleeping outside equipped with nothing but a sleeping bag, Kyle was able to raise both funds and awareness for youth who live this reality. “Walking a brief night in the shoes of someone who is homeless really increased my empathy,” Kyle reflects. “I have a better sense of just how cold, uncomfortable, and challenging life is when you don’t have shelter.”

But Kyle isn’t alone in his desire to chip in. And he says as much: “Giving back is in the DNA of Intracorp and it’s something that’s encouraged from the top-down.” In fact, at the time of this writing, Vancouver staff is preparing to volunteer at the city’s Ronald McDonald House, which provides accommodations to families of critically-ill children undergoing treatment.

But at Intracorp, caring for others isn’t relegated to north of the border. Here’s a quick peek at how the caring is being brought to life company-wide:

Caring in California:

The Southern California Division of Intracorp was asked by HomeAid Orange County, the philanthropic arm of the Building Industry Association, to take part in renovating a shelter for young women transitioning out of foster care who have either lost or are at-risk of losing their housing. The THRIVE Quad project was completed in December 2018, and aims to provide a space for women ages 18 to 24 as they launch into adulthood.

Caring in Washington:

Big supporters of St. Jude and the children it helps, our Washington office proudly participates in the annual Warrior Dash. Since its inception, the event has raised over $1,500,000 for the kids of St. Jude.

Caring in Texas:

Working with the Trail Foundation, we are making beautification and usability improvements to Austin’s Waller Creek Park, which lies adjacent to our first Austin-based proect, 44 East Avenue. The Trail Foundation is a non-profit that manages funds for the trail which stretches 10-miles (6-kilometres) along Ladybird Lake, directly outside of our new Austin property, 44 East Ave.
