A trip to Metrotown isn’t complete without a visit to one of our favourite places to grab a treat – La Foret Café. Whether you’re looking to get that caffeine fix to kick start your morning, or treat yourself to a decadent pastry after a hard day at the office, you’ll find something here to satisfy your craving.
Once you’ve arrived, you’ll likely be shocked that you’ve never been here before. Its sheer size is hard to ignore. This 5,000 sq.ft. space is a former auto body shop, but you would never know because the transformation from cars to coffee has been so drastic. Appropriately, the interior design is being described as “Industrial-Chic.” The space is filled with natural light, providing much needed sunlight to all of the plants and trees that also fill this space.
The menu offers a vast selection of extensive sweet and savoury items, from waffles and macarons, to soups and sandwiches, to paninis and brunch platters (fried chicken platter anyone?). And of course, the coffee selection leaves nothing to be desired (except a second cup). Espresso, affogato, vanilla lavender, flat white… the list goes on and on.
To get there from Maywood on the Park, take the scenic route along Beresford Street, and you’ll arrive in just 15 minutes if you’re traveling by foot. Just 5 minutes if you’re on your bike. Either have your treat to stay, and take in the beautiful décor and ambiance, or take a que from the name (La Foret means the forest in French) and take it to go to enjoy a picnic in the park. Either way, we highly recommend a visit.
