Rated by TripAdvisor as the #1 Thing to Do in Coquitlam, this beautiful park strikes the ideal balance between contemplative natural space and actively promoted recreation. Owls, butterflies, bats, and numerous native bird species flock to the many deciduous and coniferous trees throughout the park. Two small lakes – Lost Lake and Mundy Lake – are located in the middle, while a 5.5 kilometre pathway circumnavigates the park. Deer and black bear sightings are not uncommon. It’s also one of the Lower Mainland’s most dog-friendly parks, offering both off-leash dog trails and play area, and leashed trails through pretty much the entire park. (Early bird trail runners take note: all trails are off-leash before 10:00 a.m. each morning).
There’s much more to the park than just walking trails. Cooling off at the Spani Outdoor Pool is most appreciated on hot summer days, and local sports teams and clubs make use of the soccer field, baseball diamond, and lacrosse box. There’s even a nine-hole disc golf course that’s popular with players from outside Coquitlam. Ample picnic areas and extensive kids’ playground facilities make Mundy Park pretty much an ideal place for anyone to visit at any time of year.
