Intracorp, a leading homebuilder, has received an environmental determination of non-significance for its proposal to redevelop a 3.7-acre property in Eastgate. The project involves demolishing an existing 61,225-square-foot office building formerly occupied by the Washington State Department of Ecology and constructing 67 townhomes.
The proposed community, designed by Freiheit Architecture, will consist of eleven four-story buildings, each containing three-bedroom townhomes with two-car garages. Additional guest parking and loading spaces are also planned. The 3.7-acre parcel is located at 3190 160th Ave. SE, and Intracorp paid $18 to buy the property in 2023.
The environmental determination, issued by the Bellevue Development Services Department on May 30, indicates that the project is not expected to have a significant environmental impact, clearing the way for further development.
The project has garnered some attention due to concerns about the removal of trees along the trail adjacent to 161st Street SE. However, the environmental determination addressed this concern, stating that all perimeter trees except those necessary for trail expansion will be retained. Intracorp also plans to enhance the trail with amenities like benches and pet relief stations.
