Class is in session!

One of the many benefits of living at Maywood on the Park is the proximity of schools in the neighbourhood. Whether you or a family member are beginning your post-secondary education or are looking for courses to develop your professional career, Burnaby is home to some of the top post-secondary schools in the Lower Mainland. And with the Skytrain Station and main bus loop just a few minutes away, accessing these schools is easy (easy as 1, 2, 3…).

Simon Fraser University (SFU)

SFU opened its doors in September of 1965 on the top of Burnaby Mountain. It now ranks at the top for comprehensive universities in Canada according to Maclean’s Magazine. With flexible programs, joint major programs, and co-op placements, students leave with a well-rounded degree, diploma, or certificate. They also have plenty of part-time courses for professionals who wish to advance their careers.

One of the most notable features of SFU’s Burnaby campus is its location – here you are sure to get an incredible view of the Lower Mainland. SFU’s mountaintop location inspired architect Arthur Erikson to design the campus with the Acropolis in Athens in mind. The design of the campus is meant to unify the structure of the building with its natural surroundings. Since its initial development, SFU has expanded and brought campuses to both Surrey and Vancouver.

British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT)

BCIT is one of BC’s largest polytechnic post-secondary institutions offering programs for trades, technology, nursing, engineering and business. In total, there are five campuses located in Metro Vancouver with the campus in Burnaby being the largest. With a focus on practical hands-on learning, BCIT offers a variety of programs that help students gain valuable knowledge for their desired careers. They have plenty of programs that are available for full-time and part-time students as well as professionals who are looking to advance their careers.

Apart from their programs, BCIT has a range of resources for students beyond their academic studies including student events, health and counseling services, and career development services.

Living at Maywood on the Park means that you are just a short distance from these two top post-secondary schools. Be sure to check them out if furthering your education is on your mind.
